Congress Passes Resolution on BPD!
On April 1, 2008 Congress passed a Resolution in the House of Representatives to name the month of May Borderline Personality Disorder Awareness Month. Sponsored by Representatives Tom Davis (R-VA) and Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), this Resolution, H.R. 1005, is a very important step in expanding awareness, research and treatment of BPD. Thanks to all who supported its passage!

SEMINARS, CONFERENCES AND WORKSHOPS
Dr. FRIEDEL'S SEMINARS, WORKSHOPS and OTHER PRESENTATIONS
In addition to the conferences and workshops that are provided by NEA-BPD, TARA and NAMI, I develop and conduct introductory and advanced seminars and workshops on borderline disorder to meet the specific needs of different communities. These seminars and workshops range from one hour to two days in length, with content that is flexible and is focused on those areas of most interest to the attendees in that community. Ample time for questions and comments by attendees is built into each event.
NEA-BPD, TARA and NAMI
The agenda of the workshops and conferences on borderline disorder are developed by these organizations is to provide up to date information on different aspects of the disorder.
NEA-BPD conferences and workshops on borderline disorder are conducted across the country. Comprehensive presentations are given by a number of professional experts on the disorder, by local clinicians who have an interest in the disorder, and by family members trained in conducting family training sessions.
The TARA Workshops are presented by TARA leaders who have been trained in DBT. Using the principles of DBT, they present, in many communities across the country, a patient focused, family oriented psycho-educational program. TARA also sponsors weekend workshops in cities across the country.
NAMI also offers a growing spectrum of personal educational opportunities through their many chapters in every state.
In order to determine if any of these events may be of help and available to you, refer to the NEA-BPD, TARA, and NAMI websites.
