Family Institute of Virginia Clinic
The Family Institute of Virginia (FIV) is a private clinic located in Richmond, VA that accepts a limited number of insurance plans. Dr. Friedel is the Medical Director of the FIV. For patients from the greater Richmond area, as well as those who are within driving distance, the services offered at FIV include: Diagnostic Evaluation of the patient (including interviews with the patient’s family members); Medication Management; Individual Borderline-Specific Psychotherapy; and Family Counseling. NOTE
Patients who are not within convenient driving distance of Richmond, and those who come to the FIV clinic from out-of-state, are provided with recommendations regarding sources of BPD-specific psychotherapy in their community.
Jackson-Feild Homes
Jackson-Feild Homes (JFH) is a long term Residential Treatment Center (RTC) for girls 13 to 18 years old located in Jarratt, VA. Dr. Friedel is the Medical Director of JFH. The girls who are admitted to JFH suffer from severe behavioral disturbances that have not responded adequately to inpatient or outpatient treatment, therapeutic foster home placement, or to Residential Treatment Center care as typically provided. The majority of the girls at JFH suffer from borderline disorder, usually with co-occurring disorders such as mood disorders, substance use disorders, anxiety disorders, ADHD and eating disorders. The clinical and educational programs at JFH are designed to effectively treat borderline disorder and these co-occurring disorders. JFH also includes an educational program that is authorized to confer on those girls who qualify High School Degrees and GEDs.
